PDF cropping is useful in many situations:
Remove print margins
Documents with excessive margins that need adjusting for presentations or screen reading.
Prepare for binding
Adjust margins to make the document compatible with different binding formats.
Scanned documents
Remove black borders or shadows that appear when scanning physical documents.
Optimize for screen
Reduce margins to maximize visible content area on tablets and e-readers.
Does cropping reduce the file size?
Cropping modifies the visible area (CropBox) of the PDF but doesn't remove content outside the cropped area. The file size remains similar to the original.
Can I undo the crop?
The original file is not modified. Cropping generates a new PDF, so you can always go back to the original.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes, cropping works with any type of PDF, including scanned documents, as it operates on page dimensions.
What happens to content outside the crop area?
Content outside the CropBox is not displayed in PDF viewers, but technically remains in the file. To completely remove it, use the compression feature after cropping.
Can I apply different margins to different pages?
Currently margins are applied uniformly to selected pages. For different margins, you can process the PDF in multiple passes.
