  3. Click "Convert to PNG" and wait for processing
  4. Save your PNG image or ZIP file with all pages

Technical specifications

  • Output format: PNG (.png) — lossless quality
  • Lossless quality: every pixel is preserved exactly
  • Resolutions: 1x (standard), 2x (HD), 3x (Ultra HD)
  • Single page = direct PNG, multiple pages = ZIP

PNG is a lossless format, so quality depends solely on resolution (scale):

2x — High Resolution

  • Double pixels per dimension
  • Sharp on retina displays
  • Good size/quality balance

Printing, presentations, design

1x — Standard

  • Original PDF resolution
  • Smallest file sizes
  • Sufficient quality for web

Web, previews, email

3x — Ultra Resolution

  • Triple pixels per dimension
  • Maximum possible sharpness
  • Significantly larger files

Professional printing, extreme zoom

PNG is ideal when you need transparency, lossless quality, or crisp text preservation. JPG is better for photos where file size matters more.

Key PNG advantages:

  • Lossless quality: every pixel is preserved exactly

  • Crisp text: perfect for documents with small text
  • No artifacts: no blocks or halos like in JPG
  • 100% Private: your PDFs never leave your computer

What's the difference between PNG and JPG?

PNG is lossless and supports transparency, ideal for text, logos, and graphics. JPG uses lossy compression, creating smaller files but with potential artifacts. For PDF documents, PNG better preserves text sharpness.

Does transparent background work with any PDF?

It depends on the PDF. If the document has an explicit white background (most do), enabling transparency will still show the white background. It works best with PDFs that have elements on a transparent background, like logos or vector graphics.

Why are PNG files larger than JPG?

PNG doesn't use lossy compression, so every pixel is stored with precision. This results in larger files but with perfect quality. If file size is a priority, use our PDF to JPG tool instead.

Which resolution should I choose?

For web or email, 1x is sufficient. For printing or presentations, use 2x. You only need 3x for professional large-format printing or when extreme zoom is needed.

Can I convert password-protected PDFs?

No, password-protected PDFs cannot be processed. You'll need to remove the password protection first.
